Hi, Your labs show that you are on your way to success. Its a tough ride but worth it. Keep the support of this community and you will make it. Good luck - we are all here for you.
I found some stats when I was researching prior to incivek treatment. If you google telaprevir you can find more info on trial results. There are different results for earlier trials vs later while they figured out fat or rash etc. So be careful how you interpret thie data. This link has a grid with some stats that compare 24 and 48 weeks for prior treaters. Notice there were not that many in the study and again there are likely more results out there. Following the guidelines and doctors recommendations seems safest. Guidelines are 48 weeks if you have treated before. http://www.hivandhepatitis.com/2010_conference/easl/docs/0416_2010_b.html
I wish I could give you good news about your symptoms, but I can't. Your flu like symptoms will continue and may even worsen to include nausea and vomiting. Depession is almost a definite.Anxiety as well. High protien low iron diet with massive fluids ( water ) is best. Avoid sugar in any form. 48 weeks of Interferon, Ribaviron with the addition pf protease inhibitors is the biggest gun in the arsenal at this time , especially for treatment naive patients.Treat symptoms as your MD directs. Seek out a support system. good luk my friend you will be in my prayers. There is no denying anywhere in the research that anything less than 48 weeks is the way to go, especially with Genotype 1a. There is now evidence beginning to support that even if you you not clear complelely the fact that you have treated gives long term benefits. P.S. I have een treated twice for 48 weeks.
thats what im thinking billy just got another 7 weeks to go cant wait to stop eating like a pig LOL i hate all this fatty food i was looking forward to it but the reality is im getting FAT and i feel bloated all the time ... cant wait to get back to a normal diet.. my fruit and yogurt and granola around 9am, salad for lunch and a light dinner... im ready to throw all the cheese out the window... and i love cheese ... well i used to hahaha... and ya NY im in it to win it i'll be here for the duration !!
it's going to be windy in march in the bahamas...mid april isn't as windy and the waters warmer....good luck...that incivek feeling is tough...it gets much easier when you get on just the riba/interferon...billy
PJ you have been around here wayyyyyyyyy too long to think we're going to let you skate by and take an easy way out - you are in it for the duration, regardless of what your doctor says it is ;)
I am basically treatment naive, i did treat 8 years ago with peg and virimidine on a trial but i have no idea if i was a non-responder or relapser they would not give me any results... i guess to be safe i should do the full 48 weeks... that freaking *****... supposed to go cat sailing/fishing/diving in the bahamas for a week next March i was hoping to be done this stuff by February... at least i will be done the incivek by then ... i had almost no side effects at all on the trial but i was a lot younger than and no riba either, but im still thinking it must get a bit easier once the incivek is done...
The treatment protocol according to Vertex labeling is as a previous non resonder to SOC the Inci is to be taken for 12 weeks and then an additional 36 weeks of Peg/Riba
If you were a previous relapser and this time were UND at week 4 and week 12 then the protocol is to do 12 weeks of Inci. and then another 12 of Peg/Riba (unless you are chirrotic ,and then the 48 "may" still apply)
Hope your sides lessen and hang in...
