most relapse occurs in the first 2 weeks. i was going to say your doctor sounded very good and up to date until i heard the next test was going to be at 24 weeks. tell him he is on the right track but include at least a Qualitative test done at 4 & 12 weeks. Once undetectable only the less expensive Qualitative is needed.
Best of luck
I heard that relapse was most common within the first 2-3 weeks. I'd want to move the test to 4 weeks to be a little surer I'd caught the possibility of relapse.
Personally I'd call him back and tell him that like everyone else you'd like the 4 week - or a 2 week and 4 week but not just a two week. It does seem to me to be a really long stretch in there.
Of course you could always pick up the PCR orders and hold onto them for a week or two if you have to and then go......... ;)
If there is no intent to beging treating again immediately (in the event of a relapse) and the doc intends to do only two pcrs in six months I think that making that first pcr 4 weeks after the last meds would be more informative.
