I can't stress the importance of treating- and this is why........

I know treating is a personal choice but I have lost 2 friends to hep C in a  week.
Diane died Wed at the young age of 58 and this morning Steven died at 55.  Both didn't treat maybe out of fear of tx, who knows.  Even had they been a non responder it could have held the virus at bay and reduced the viral load till better drugs came to market.  I had a low VL, geno 2B, etc and could have waited for better drugs but then I though what if I have another medical problem to deal with down the road and was unable to treat even with the new drugs because of the new problem.  I decided to treat and do not regret doing so.  Like I said, it's a personal choice and I'm not trying to talk any one into treating but please think hard and long before making your choice.

Wow I had no idea! I can't imagine a child that young being able to hide such a behavior. That is a real eye opener to me, I have heard of small children smoking but this is the first time I have heard of them using heroin. How tragic.
Djay I am so glad your son has "seen the light" and is now taking another path and avoiding substances.
Maybe it was the Indian healer, who knows but whatever the reason I am glad he has a new way of thinking. That must be very hard to handle as a parent having two kids coping with this, hang in there.

Mister beagle bailey

Sorry for your loss

You are so right about waiting to tx-that is exactly what makes it a hard decision.

Hi,
Thanks for your input.  What geno type are you?  I am a 1A.  The doctors office is supposed to call me today to schedule the biopsy.  When I went in for my visit last week, the person that schedules them was on vacation.  I should be able to get in within the next week or so.  I am so ready to get it over with.

Excellent point.  From what I've read, the virus WILL mutate eventually.

My dear friend,

I am sorry, so very sorry.  I know how it feels to lose someone to this disease - it REALLY drives it home why we fight. and it lets me remember even if I do not achieve and maintain SVR that perhaps I've bought myself some TIME by hopefully getting some regression of the damage in my liver.

It'd be so easy to give up or give in and say "well I don't have any symptoms...why should I suffer through treatment" but I tell you Diana and Steven and my friend Frank - they could tell us volumes of reasons WHY we should continue to fight.

It's such a shame and I am SO sorry.  I am so glad you've won this battle :)
