I don't know of any treatment. I know that the drug trials don't want people who have already gone into cirrhosis. I just go in every 6 months or so and they do blood work, CT Scan, EGD or some other procedure to check on some of the other problems the body can begin having due to the cirrhosis. My latest thing has been high ammonia levels so they have me on several different laxatives. I've also had some fluid build-up in my stomach. I go back to my cirrhosis doctor next Wednesday so hope to find out more about what's going on with my body.
Iam not sure what the standard is but i have cirrhosis, started out txing for 48 wks but chose to extend due to my cirrhosis. i did a good bit of research and found that cirrhotics are harder to tx and i was geno 1a which makes it even more difficult to get rid of. my labs tolerated tx well, but i had a hard time with headaches, joint pain etc.
