72 weeks of treatment (seems there may have been a mistake with some labs mid way thru treatment so...).
As one of my doc says, for me, treatment was worse than the disease and two years after the "cure" a Judge decided I was 100% disabled due to long term side effects (#1 being chronic fatigue which is getting unbearable as days go by)... Oh well, live and learn PIS.
Scarbs,
That's great news about being virus-free! Thanks for your comment about the one-year length of treatment.
Willbb, Thanks for your comments. I had several others respond about treatment being continued for 12 months or longer.
I was treated 8 times. Cleared virus every time but came back withing a couple of months. The last time extended treatment to one year and have been virus free for over a year. Only wish I had done the year sooner!!
Lets try this :
Dosing and Administration
In all patients* treated with INCIVEK combination treatment:
Start triple therapy on Day 1 and complete the INCIVEK dosing portion of the regimen in
12 weeks. An additional 12 or 36 weeks of pegIFN-RBV alone is required.
•INCIVEK 750 mg (two 375-mg tablets) is taken orally 3 times a day (7–9 hours apart) with food (not low fat)
•INCIVEK is dosed for 12 weeks in combination with pegIFN-RBV and an additional 12 or 36 weeks of pegIFN-RBV alone is required
•INCIVEK must not be used as monotherapy
•To prevent treatment failure, INCIVEK dose must not be reduced or interrupted
For dose modification of peginterferon alfa and ribavirin, refer to their respective Prescribing Information
•If pegIFN or RBV is discontinued for any reason, INCIVEK must also be discontinued
•If patients miss a dose, they should follow these instructions:
If a dose of INCIVEK is missed within 4 hours of the time it is usually taken, patients should be instructed to take the prescribed dose of INCIVEK with food as soon as possible
If more than 4 hours have passed since INCIVEK is usually taken, the missed dose should NOT be taken and the patient should resume the usual dosing schedule
*Adult patients with genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C virus and compensated liver
sorry . part of that was cut off..
Treatment Duration
Duration of treatment depends on HCV-RNA levels
Triple therapy: telaprevir, peginterferon alfa, and ribavirin
Dual therapy: peginterferon alfa and ribavirin
Treatment-naïve and prior relapse patients
•HCV-RNA levels undetectable at weeks 4 and 12: Administer triple therapy first 12 weeks, then dual therapy an additional 12 weeks
•HCV-RNA levels detectable at weeks 4 and 12 (ie, 1000 IU/mL at treatment weeks 4 or 12, OR
•HCV-RNA levels detectable at treatment week 24
The protocol for triple therapy (with Incivek) is 48 weeks if one is not UND. at week 4 &12 . for prior relaspers and all prior "partial responders"
The doctor is following this protocol (below)
Good luck .
.Will

We have a member who did SOC tx for 72 weeks. And I know of a person post transplant who was on interferon for over 2 years.
