Inflammation

My doctor offered to put me on a program that will be paid by the drug supplier for all testing if I qualify.  It is some oral drug that decreases liver inflammation and will be available by the summer and the program lasts six months.  He said it will help while I wait for better drugs to come out.  He is a lead researcher in San Antonio - Dr. Eric Lawitz of Alamo Medical Research.  Does anybody know anything about this drug?  BTW - 1b - treated for 5 wks 2 yrs ago and had to get off due to severe anemia and a stupid doctor who did not know what he was doing.

The only thing is I am 53 years young and I think the older you are the harder it is.  Hope those new drugs come through soon!  I will post later when I get the application process going.

You bet there are going to be a lot of curious people in here too Ana!!!!!!!!

Great news that you have time - very great news.  Can't wait to see what the new drug is and how it works.  I figure there are an awful lot of people out there with liver inflammation that don't even have hep - now that drug would be an interesting on wouldn't it? Maybe we can get rich ;)

Grade 1 - Stage 1 - from 2 year old biopsy.    So my new doctor said I have time to wait for the new drugs, but he wanted to see if I would be interested in this "program" - since it is all expense paid I said yes, but I will get more details when I start the application process sometime this summer.  I'm very curious.

ANNA-
Never heard of any anti-infllammation drug, see if you can find out the name of it so we can see what it's about!

And I remember you and cannot believe it's been two years already...........God it seems impossible!  I dont remember what stage you are - and no I never understand doctors that wont' give procrit and let people finish treatment when that is the only problem and they could get to SVR!!!!!!!  Stupid isn't the WORD!

SANDBASH-
Unless you have VERY bad inflammation and SOMEHOW it was stretching the liver capsule to pieces, there aren't any nerves inside your liver to feel inflammation at all. Have you been tested to make sure its not something else hiding as hep? (God knows it seems all us heppers have always blamed everything on it and a few times people have had other real problems that needed to be addressed instead).

None - they will test me by liver biopsy and labs and ultrasound.  It sounds great because if I have inflammation - then they will also supply the drugs.  If I don't have inflammation even better - no drugs.  Sounds like a trial, but haven't been able to find anything on it.
