Sounds like your husband had some pre-tx health issues. What does his doctor think about all this? Is your husband cirrhotic?
Your husband's sides had to have pretty bad for him to have to stop treatment. Did your husband's treating physician happen to mention what to expect once your husband stopped treating? It would have been great if the doctor did address the topic as well as what to do if your husband does not feel better.
It helps to know more about his condition (Genoptype, Viral Load, Liver condition and the like) to know the shape he was when he started treatment as well as the extent of his side effects. Since none of those things are mentioned I can tell you that if your husband stopped treating on Monday and today is Thursday then it has been a little under four days, right?
If so, for me (and this is just me), I did not truly start to feel better until around 10 days after I took the Protease Inhibitor (Incivek). It was just yesterday (12 days after stopping Incivek) that I felt like (and was somewhat able) to go on a hike with my dogs.
The thing is, I was not as sick as your husband had to have been at the four week mark so I am not sure how helpful all this is. It does take a while even with the full course of treatment, or the whole 12 weeks.
I can hear how distressed you are and I am sorry for it. I would keep an eye on your husband and stay in touch with his doctor.
I can imagine you're both disappointed. I have had to end treatment
early once.
What was occuring when the doctor ended treatment?
