Is this a symptom?

I've been diagnosed but haven't started any treatment.  I have real bad pains in my legs and leg joints (i.e. hips, knees, ankles).  Is this a symptom of Hep C, or do you think it might be something else?

I have had joint pain (hips, wrists, knees) for several years and never could figure out why (until I was diagnosed with Hep C in July). It comes and goes and moves around. I also have fatigue. Never could figure that out either until I was diagnosed. In addition, in 1993 I had systemic vasculitisand was very, very ill. At the time they never could find a cause. I was tersted for everything in the book (except Hep C, which was not on anyone's radar at that time). Now I know the cause was most probably the Hep C.

I am not saying your problems are from Hep C but Hep C can cause joint pain/discomfort.

Gluten?  As in Celiac?  haha...  I don't think so.

If one has the actual symptoms of Celiac, a biopsy can be done to confirm it.

it could be hep or maybe gluten...maybe try cutting way back on gluten for a couple months...some make the mistake of cutting gluten out for a few weeks but it can take a couple months...who knows till you try it...good luck....billy

Yes.  Joint pain is a very common sympton of Hep C.  The biggest is fatigue.  But everyone is different.  I had both.  Good luck

No one other than a doctor  familiar with your history would be able to confirm or not whether these symptoms you have are related to HCV.however fatigue as copyman says is the most  complained about symptom of having the virus. as well as some other extrahepatic manifistationds listed below (joint pain [arthraligia] was related in 23%)

Symptoms often first develop as clinical findings of extrahepatic manifestations of HCV and most commonly involve the joints, muscle, and skin. In a large study of the extrahepatic manifestations of HCV, 74% of medical workers with HCV infection demonstrated extrahepatic manifestations.[27] The most commonly occurring extrahepatic manifestations were as follows:

Arthralgias (23%)
Paresthesias (17%)
Myalgias (15%)
Pruritus (15%)
Sicca syndrome (11%)
In addition, sensory neuropathy has been reported as an extrahepatic manifestation in 9% of patients with HCV infection.[28] Risk factors for manifestations of extrahepatic chronic hepatitis C infection include advanced age, female sex, and liver fibrosis.

Doubtful it has anything to do with HCV, best to be checked out by a Doctor.

Joint pain along with fatigue are the most common symptoms of HCV. Once you treat you should get some relief. Best of luck
