GILIAD 0120 TRIAL

I'm a newbie here, does anyone have any info on this clinical trial?  No interferon injections.  All oral protease inhibitors & riboviron.  I'm to start Aug.  I hear riboviron is what makes everyone sick.  I have bad allergies, skin issues (especially scalp), asthma and respiratory probs.  Is this going to due me in?   Oh, and depression!   Help!
I also don't want to go out on disability if I can avoid it.

I was just reading about it - no injections -woohoo!  Read my recent thread about the skin and scalp problems I am having - I would definitely ask them if you are allowed to have Atarax or Benadryl.  In my Gilead trial, we are not so it has been tough.  When I started the trial, we suspected that I might have the skin issues because my skin is hyper-reactive to things like insect bites, poison ivy, etc so before you start, I would be sure that if you react to the riba (also could be the Tegubovir which I might be on), they will be able to help you through it.
Regarding the depression, I was already on Welbutrin and a lot of people get on an anti-depressants prior to beginning treatment.  Now would be the time for you to start to give you about six week of it in your system.
Good luck - I hope you can do it.  Let us know how you are doing.
Debra

I'm in Gilead 0123 - SOC plus possibility of two study drugs - Tegobuvir and GS-9256 or SOC with placebo(s).  I have been on Welbutrin for about five or so years.  I did not increase my dosage for treatment.  I have not noticed any increase in depression - I have been dealing with it since I was a kid so I've learned coping mechanisms over the years that I don't even realize that I have so I think that has helped.
I just did my 12th shot tonight.  My VL - from 2.3 mil to 176 in Week 1, <43 Week 2,  and down to <25 by Week 4, UND at Week 8.  I've had some drops in neutrophils but only enough for one dosage reduction of INF and then right back to full dosage.  Overall not bad except for a rash and burning itchy scalp that seems helped by nothing and is currently tortuous.

Hi Debra, what trial are you on?  I am already on 40 mg Prozac, I wonder if I should increase or switch.  It works ok for me now but treatment will probably be a whole other story.  How are you doing on your trial and how long have you been on it?
Thx, Gail

Hi, thx for your advice.  Unfortunately Ribovirin is part of the treatment, just not interferon.  I didn't want to do injections.  But if virus isn't cleared within 12 weeks, they may add interferon.  Pray that doesn't happen!  Thx everyone for your support and good luck to all of you!  Gail

This is a clinical trial through Kaiser in SD.  I haven't really found much about it online - only talked to nurse yesterday and she hadn't even read through the 300 pages yet.  But come to find out my hepatologist is the med coordinator of the study.  I have an appointment with her soon & will post as I get more info.  This is Phase 2 trial.  Have no idea how Phase 1 went.

I did go to clinicaltrials.gov and in the search entered Gilead 0120.  It shows protocol also the locations that it will be conducted. There is only one that pops up unlike some of the other trials that have multiple phases, etc. going on

I dont think you have to worry about disability, it is very difficult to obtain and not taking the interferon should help.
I doubled my anti depressants ( Lexapro ) 2 weeks before treatment.  helps i think

Hi,
I think Ribavarin and Interferon make you feel sick, so great they are trying to eliminate those 2 if possible, as helpful as they have been for so many people they are hard to take. Good luck with your treatment and if it works without interferon, it will be a god send.
Interferon makes me feel yucky

Also, it looks like no placebos and treatment length and drug dosage are the variables.  That is fantastic!
