Liver Transplant and Hep C

My Husband has Hep C, genotype 3a, Liver is not very damaged yet just Fibrosis F0, I just want to know if he has a liver transplant will it automatically also cure his Hep C, or the Virus will stay and he will just have a healthy liver, I just want to know if Hep C is cured by liver transplant???

your husbang caught a HUGE break being Gt 3.  Types 2 and 3 are much more

reponsive to treatment than Gt 1.  If he decides to treat, the length will be, probably,

24 weeks instead of 48, for Gt 1.

Like FLguy says, your focus should be on planning for getting the upholstery steam cleaned, not on whether a new interior would be moth resistant.

A transplant will not resolve the Hep C.  The infection is in the blood, which affects the liver.  And, the damage to a newly transplanted liver is quicker in the presence of Hep C.  At stage F0 hubby's liver is almost pristine and he is probably nowhere close to needing a replacement part.  Sooner or later he will need to deal with getting rid of the infection and it's best to hang on to the manufacturer's original equipment. . It's not like putting a patch on a flat tire.
