Post Tx Surgery

Has anyone had surgery post treatment and how long were you required to wait?

I am going to have to have a couple of procedures post treatment
(one is a large kidney stone DEVELOPED ON treatment)

and i have been told it takes 6-8 weeks post tx to have the tx drugs out of your system

but when is it "safe" to have surgery?

I wouldn't go with any set time. Go with how your WBC, neutrophils, and other counts rebound.

I also have a surgery due after tx. I thought it was best to wait until the drugs were completely out of your body. Isn't that like 4-6 months for the riba?

by treatment do you mean surgery on sonar disolution. Since you are one treatment, I'd defintely check out the smashing occcilator option, not much blood lose there. they just vibrate the stone and it crumbles to rumble, and hopefully it all passes out as teeny gravel in a few days. Then your kidney will work at ioo percent again. The only danger is if a big pepple has trouble passing, there can be pain, and intervention to get it out...but still this is far less invasve and dangerous to the kidney than opening it up. far less blood loss. easier time healing you want to minimalize blood loss and test while on tx for hep.
my friend had the knife method, they screwed up and she lost the kidney...so search your options well.
hope that helps

Not to brag, but mine is 2 cm, really. Guess mine is Texas size. They said that sometimes the stone is implanted firmly enough that it won't budge and this seems to be the case with me thank goodness. Wrote you a short note a few minutes ago:)

yep.  It's large and it has caused some renal colic several times.  It is one cm.  it won't go down the ureter but if it causes colic, well that's not good.

interesting part is that i had a clear abd u/s including kidneys less than thirty days prior to starting treatment at the end of March.

mmmmm....

Just curious, why do you have to have the stone removed? Is it in a bad position or causing you any pain? I had hernia repair twice a few years back and was told I have 2 large kidney stones, but unless they caused my problems, I didn't have to do anything. I haven't done anything, and they are still there, sleeping I hope...

Elaine:
well, you already knew, but boy!

Eric:
I wonder what RIBA adds to the party. was it a scope chole or an open one?

I have to tell you guys, though, after getting over this last bug and taking just 90 mcg of IFN, I feel darn good today. Best I felt in a long time.  I don't know if it is because i'm just grateful to be feeling better from the bug...but i won't look a gift "good" in the mouth...

I had my gall bladder removed while I was on TX.  Just interferon without riba back then.
