Merck Grazopevir/Elbasvir 8 month >EOT Lab Results

Hey All, I just got my lab results from blood drawn on 7-28-15. This is part of a long term (3 year) follow up of patients who achieved SVR in a clinical trial. The Merck trial number was MK5172-068. Each tablet, (#84 in all, 12 weeks of tx), consisted of Grazoprevir 100mg., and Elbasvir 50 mg. This med produced a 97%+ SVR in patients with GTs1,1a, 4 and 6. Results were basically identical in both cirrhotic and non-cirrhotic trial participants. It has been Mid November, 2014 since my last dose. The 7-28-15 lab results:
Viral Titer = TND   ALT = 29,  ALK PHOS = 152 (H),  AST = 32.    The ALK PHOS will never be WNL because of my extensive cirrhosis (Stage 5). No improvement of lower limb circulatory issues has been noted since cessation of tx. Spontaneous liver tissue regeneration may be impossible at this point, the tight rope I will walk until The Big Sleep is whether I can stay off the donor list or not. Look for Merck to slap a name on this med, and it be available before the year is out. The FDA has already awarded, rescinded, then awarded again "breakthrough" status for this as of yet unnamed medication. I experienced no side efx at all.     Mac790

Mac I gotta say that any improvement should it occur will not be noted for at least 2 years from EOT.  Keep the faith my friend and continue to stay on the straight and narrow with healthy lifestyle choices. They finally found a cure for Hep C.  Perhaps coming down the pike will be a cure for Fibrosis/Cirrhosis.
Technology and science are happening at warped speed.  We must do our best to be gentle on our ravaged livers.
Staying positive

Always glad to hear good news, and the effectiveness of that med combo IS good news!

I agree with pooh, your LFTs look good and that is good news, too!

I pray that your liver with surprise you and improve.  We don't know all the things possible.  Even improving into compensated or to F3 would be wonderful.

Thanks for sharing!

Congratulations on attaining SVR!

Your liver enzymes look great. I hope more of your health issues improve and that you can stay off the transplant list.

Thanks for posting the study results and your experience with the drugs.

Best wishes for the future.
