4 week PCR...UND...Post transplant!!

For anyone who doesn't know us, we both tried treatment in '04. I was successful and am now SVR but he was pulled off and subsuquently had a liver transplant in November 2004. He's now in week 9 of tx with Pegasy, and even being post transplant is tolerating the tx very well. Lab work is steady, no rejection episodes and he is even working while doing this. Thank god, he is a genotype 2...he's 1/3 through.

There's been lots of talk on here about the benefits of treating vs waiting. Well, we decided to take matters into our own hands with his tx and pretty much demanded that he start now. Liverheads were dubious as he was showing NO signs of the hep affecting the new liver but we were of the thought, "It's eventually going to rear it's ugly head, why wait till then?" For us, it was a no-brainer. But, like I said, both of us are/were genotypes 2 so maybe the decision is that much easier. The tx is doable and I believe the benefits way outweigh the risks. (At least so far).

It's alarming to see so many new people on here. I am here lurking, but don't feel I want to take up space that they could use. I remember how many questions I had when we were first dx, endless to say the least. Bless the old posters who have stayed to help the newbies find their way. You have big hearts.

I feel the same way about you. We've been together for quite a while and I have always cared for and respected you. About the bike: I know it seems kind of strange to work so hard to stay alive and then risk riding a bike. I am guilty too so what can I say? I do know that sometimes it seems that we work so hard trying not to die that we forget to live and that really doesn't make much sense. I just wish for the best for both of you. Good luck, Mike

Mike, I  just wanted to share the good news, and had hoped you'd see it. Mike, you've been a constant support and a valued friend, helping me walk through this maze since the beginning. As a fellow TP recipient, you know all to well the hardships and heartaches we go through.  I thank-you and wish you all the best, forever. (Oh yeah, he went out and bought a new bike a few weeks ago, I am less than thrilled. LOL)

Myown, Frijole and zazza, Thanks alot for the warm wishes and support. Yes, we made the right decision (for us) and we will get through this and all alse life throws at us. I wish you all well and years of happiness.

Speaking of vacations. We will be leaving again for Mexico right after tx ends for another 5 months of much deserved R&R. Something to look forward to and aim for. Life, as we know, is short.
