4 week PCR- too close to shot 4?

Hi,

I had my 4 week PCR three days before shot 5. (Had it Friday, shot day Monday). Now afterwards I remember being told I should have done it on the same day as shot 5, but before the shot. How important is this? Have I done it too early to trust the results if I should be undetectable?

Thanks for putting my mind at ease!

I do realize we're dealing with shades of gray, but once you start to obsess about it, you need someone else to say like it is.

I think that a very sensitive test will be used (down to 15 iu/ml), so result will probably be about as accurate as it gets.

The question really is how much can you trust any UND on any day of the week, while on the treatment drugs. Trials generally test vl the day before the injection to try and make the UND as legitimate as possible. Using a very sensitive test also does that. Combine the two and you get the best result possible. Like stated, I really wouldn't worry much over this, as in a sense we're not talking black and white but shades of grey. Next time you might want to test the day before the test to match the protocol of many trials.

No big deal really as many people in the "outside" world would never think of it in the first place.

Its not that big a deal. Having the PCR test on the day of the shot or the day before is how the studies did it. It also means you get a VL picture when the IFN is at it lowest.

If you are UND you are UND, IF not UND and the VL is in the hundreds then you would not be RVR anyway. If your VL is close to the limit of detection then and only then could this maybe be a bit of an issue. If this were the case consider your self a non RVR. Only hitting UND the day of shot 5 is cutting it a little fine for my likeing.

Just a long winded way of saying its no big deal having the test 3 days before the shot.

All the Best
CS.
