This thread is about medical marijuana for hep C and tx side effects.  Let's stick to that topic, please.

A note for newer users - we do not allow political or religious conversations in our main forums.  We have a Health Care Reform community if you'd like to discuss health care in the US, and an Alternative Therapies forum if you'd like to delve deeper into medical marijuana.  They are listed here, along with all of our other forums - http://www.medhelp.org/forums/list

Thanks,

Emily

Back on topic here is the title and question, I really don't see the connection between this and mexico's health care system

I am lucky. He's a gem, always available via email, and very compassionate.
He's also flexible working with me, not an always easy thing to do.

Sounds like a well rounded doc who cares more about the patient than the revenues that the patient brings in. A rare bird apparently...you are very lucky...Mark

I found a few hours after my interferon shot, my muscles would begin to tighten up. One week with deep muscular pain, that would let up, a friend brought me some cannabis brownies. I ate two. In the morning though very groggy, the pain was gone.
After that, I began eating one after my weekly shot, to counteract the muscle tension. It worked great.

My hepatologist, also a well known doctor, involved in research and attends all the hep C conferences, is okay with my using it in moderation.

Basically, he's okay with most things that will get you through treatment.
( I always check because some things are bad for your liver. As far as mj goes, there isn't enough studies to make conclusive claims)

Yeah, me too. Once I added the third med (Boceprivir)..ALL smells started bothering me...starting with the taste of my mouth, in particular, my old crowned, root-canaled teeth. So, cotton mouth was not an option, and the smell of my pipe made me feel like puking! (although I went UND while still sneaking pot ; )

Marajuana does work well, for nausea, and to get the appetite up, but my Doc scared me into quitting, so I went along with it...she is all powerful to my treatment right now, and very conservative, and anti-marajuana, etc. But another thing that helps my nausea is never letting my stomach get empty, so I am kind of eating little things thru-out the day, like a banana, a yogurt, an apple, some chicken, half a sandwhich, it's what my whole pay-check goes to, and I am putting off those bills!

Yesh, I agree. But I have to admit, after smoking marajuana from the time I was 15 yrs, until last month (age 49 yrs)...I now feel "high" by not getting high! I am having thes rly cool lucid dreams, where I am going back, and my brain is trying to work out the losses~ I have one where I am going to see my daughters' dad again~ as I had never gotten to see him, after he went to prison and was deported. I was so shocked and depressed at the time, when he was arrested so suddenly, that I never did deal with the loss, I just relapsed on hard drugs, for another 4 yrs...doh.
I do think it's total discrimination and refer madness, that they refuse to give a liver transplant to a pot-smoker, but let ciggerette smokers get the transplant, smoking ciggies is MUCH harder on the body!

Yes I was ok'd for it' It is legal in my state. It is the only thing that help my nausea. I use a vaporizer and tincture.

With all due respect, I don't think that there has ever been a legitimate study about pot. The government has spent millions trying to de-high pot. I would be far more worried about xanax or acid blockers, there have been plenty of studies for those. Just my opinion, as always...Mark

Well....there has been studies stating that dailey use of marajuana increases the chance of fibrosis. I was a daily marajuana smoker, ( in NorCal) and did end up with stage 2 Fibrosis. I quit when I found that out, because Iwas afraid that, during my triple therapy, my liver might get worse (I had low platelettes, genreally a sign of cirrhosis), and if I needed an emergency liver-transplant, I would be uneligable, because if you test positive for THC, then the medical field makes you wait a whole year, before giving you a transplant, so I got scared straight!
Now, 7 weeks into tx, I have developed hemolytic anemia ( a vey common side-effect, especially with triple tx) which means less oxygen in my blood stream, and the blood cant filter carbon minoxide wastes)..so, I am breathless, and if I were to be smoking it, I would have even less oxygen in my blood, from taking in the smoke.
I suppose using a vaporiser wopuld be healthier, butif it isn't legal in yr state, ordering vaporiser via the internet could be dangerous, remember what happened to poor Tommy Chong? He was busted for selling On-line Bongs!
I would still guess that marajuana is better for you, then taking pills, but eating marajuan got me REALLY sick, right before I found out the Hep C was hurting my liver....anything that intoxicates you, is hard on the liver!
