Memory Loss

I have to admit that i am forgetting things as of latley.A lot of simple things that really bug me,for example ill get into an elvator and wait and wait and i realize i never even pushed my floor button,i seem to leave my home without my wallet alot...i left my keys in my mail box just the other day,it was embarassing...even after a bike ride i forget to fasten my bike lock and it ends up falling on the street...sometimes ill go buy something and just walk off without paying for the stuff...i dont even realize i never paid..at work i make all kinds of dumb mistakes that i find it hard to believe i make...ITS SCARY....my question is if i do decide to go another round of TX...will i know my own frteakn name?

Hi,

I think everyone has those moments of mental relapse. But then again, it could be the weed.   :)

Hi, I am 3 months post TX and still have those brain farts LOL.  Last 4 digits of cell, home phone and my social sec #.........0766, 0876 & 0628.  I had a heck of a time with those but it is honestly getting better.  I either forgot or just couldn't face payroll taxes which I am catching up on and the penalties are gonna bankrupt me.  About the pot, it made me pretty stupid but that was just me.

I had some memory issues certainly during treatment. For months afterwards I could sense an idea, concept or name on the tip of my tongue...I knew I knew it, often I could visualize it perfectly, but I just couldn't formulate the word(s) and say it. It was very frustrating. But now I'm one year post tx and things seem much better, still the occassional hiccup, but much better overall. Although even today there are things that happened during treatment in and out of my life that I've either read about or learned from other people that I do not recall. I have certain memory dropouts from that time, and I doubt they will come back. Which is ok with me because I'd rather forget most of the experience anyway (not the people I've met along the way though).

But honestly dude, if you're huffing on the weed, isn't it pretty obvious that it's at the very least exacerbating your memory problems? It could even be the root cause of them. Even perfectly healthy people with excellent memories will look high and low for their car keys only to find them in their hands while stoned. I thought you were a total health nut? Deeply inhaling burned vegetable matter (carcinogenic smoke), epsecially on a regular basis, is not good for your liver or your brain. I'd go cold turkey and see if things get better. Best of luck...

Don't know if you remeber me. You were here when I first posted with a 1000 questions.. You gave me some great advice on healthy eating which I actually did until I started tx. I am 9 months post and happy to say SVR. My brain fog is better but I can't tell you how many times I drive past my exit, forget why I have walked into a room, look for keys that I am holding in my hand etc etc. I don't know if it was the tx or just age!!

Hey Deb & FLGuy  - how are you both??

Must be contageous -- candoman forgot to post.......

I rocker, good to see you again.  I don't have that problem post tx although I do seem to have a more relaxed (don't care) attitude about a lot of things.  I have nothing against pot, but I know it causes apathy.  My brother (who also has untreated hep c) smokes all the time, and is pretty lethargic.  Perhaps you need to get some other tests run to find out what is happening

FYI, I asked gauf, when he takes his proteins, and he does around 2 hrs before or 2 hrs after the Riba.

I'm using an organic whey powder that is excellent. It is called ImmunoPro and is made by wellwisdom.com.

The good thing is that besides being organic, it is made from raw milk. They have two different kind of proteins and a colostrum, too. ImmunoPr is the more concentrated one.

Here is what the say in short.

The finest biologically non-denatured whey contains the full range and highest levels of naturally occurring glutathione precursors: covalent bonded cysteine, lactoferrin, immunoglobulins, and active peptides. The full range of native proteins assist in antioxidant production, complete amino acid supplementation, healthy immune function, cellular repair and muscle growth. The whey is derived from disease-free cows that graze on pesticide-free, chemical-free, natural grass pastures. ImmunoPro® is hormone treatment-free, GMO-free and not a by-product of cheese manufacture.

I'm hoping the brain thing is reversible, I'd hate to believe I'm going to be this way forever.  I feel like such a dunce these days - I can't do the simplest things.  It would be ironic to beat the dragon but become a blithering idiot in the process!  I'm a menace on the road, I get lost in my own house, and conducting a simple transaction like just purchasing a cup of coffee can defeat me.  (Find the store, find the store when I have my wallet with me, try to remember what I went there for, pay and get out of there taking my purchase with me, and finally locate my car and keys so I can go home!)

I'd be interested in any info you have about organic whey powder, like where can I get it and is it ok to take while on tx.

I was on my way to the coast to visit a friend and passed my exit...then couldn't figure out where I was. I have traveled those roads a million times...I was scared.

I couldn't remember taking my meds Friday morning either...but I was really tired that day. I sometimes can't even carry on a conversation...I hope this memory thing goes away after tx...I want my brain back.

maybe, maybe not. Probably the combination. I mean, did you just smoke before hopping on your bike and forgetting your wallet?

I haven't smoked since 88, but still....

I had one of those today. I walked down to the grocery store, bought some stuff and at the cashier I pulled out my wallet, I opened it and just for a second there... I was lost. I was looking at my open wallet thinking why the heck am i opening my wallet?? Then I realized that I needed my credit card.

That was darn scary, I hurried home and I'm not going out there again.... Just kidding! But that's how I felt then.

I've also walked out of a store with all kinds of merchandise in my hands, without paying. Fortunately they didn't send the dogs after me.... Actually I could have just walked on, they didn't even realize it. It was my daughter-in-law to be who pointed it out to me and I went back in to pay.

The elevator I've done, too.

Leaving the water faucet in the kitchen on until our elderly downstairs neighbor came up, because her ceiling was leaking. Oops .... I had to go and paint it a few weeks later.

Burned food....

Not remembering my home phone number at the lab

I have never tx'ed before and am not on tx, yet... So I understand your concern about not knowing your name, I kinda feel the same will happen to me.

Only your first name --- you'll forget your middle one... LOL!

I dunno --- each person is different.

I'm gaining my memory back daily --- what was once a struggle to recall - is now on the tip of my tongue.

So - I can say that I'm finally getting better in a lot of ways.

It could be the HCV causing the memory problems and if you SVR - you might just get your memory back... I dunno.

Each person is different.

Hugs!

LMAO - at your descriptions --- I've done the elevator thing... I've also killed gallons of milk on the counter --- or opened 4 or 5 cans of soda.
