48 months? thought it was 72 weeks.
I meant assessed, not accessed. Sorry - dave
The standard treatment for genotype 1 is interferon and ribavirin for 48 months, the success rate is about 45%.
There are new drugs coming out next year (telaprevir and maybe boceprevir) which when added to the standard therapy mentioned above increase the success rate to about 70%,
Treatment duration is often based on your response to the medications, if you have no response by week 12 it often (not always) ends. Sometimes treatment time is extended if you are a slow responder to treatment.
There is an enormous amount of information on this forum about this. I would guess since you are asking if there is a treatment that you have not seen a liver specialist (hepatologist). I would try find the best one available in your area, and make an appointment to have your condition and extent of liver damage (if any) accessed. Normally this includes several blood tests and a liver biopsy to determine your condition.
Do you know how long you have had the disease or anything about your condition?
Welcome to the forum and keep asking questions. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here to help.
