That some bad timing, hope it all works out for ya.
On the 48 hour work week thing ... there are single people with kids that are forced to work twelves. Day Care is $150 a week. Their childeren never see them and believe me they grow up fast.
Choices are what the country has been made of, and signin that paper took choices away from other people. Back in the forties there was a big riot that lasted weeks in Michigan on just that issue. Lives were lost in that fight for the 40 hour work week. A union was formed so individauls would have choices.
Just think, if you guys didn't sign that paper, would your Co. have less work? Over time would still be there and the people that have families or simply choose not to work OT could. Over time after 44 or 48 hours were do I sign????
...look into your long weekends and holiday pay, there's a few surprises

I too am lucky in that respect, I work for a great company and in a very supportive department, it's a pharmaceutical company. It does make life a little easier to have support at your job when your going through something like this. I think it's inhumane to ask an employee to work all those hours when they're sick. Can you go to your employer and ask him/her if you can do the 48 work week now before you begin treatment?
Good luck!
Linda
When I was on the trial and going in twice a week for bloods etc I got a schedule of appointment times from the clinic and organized my job around those times. Got people to cover for me if needed etc. I think I've been very fortunate to have such a supportive work environment.
Biggest problem i have is missing work for the blood work...at work i havnt told anybody the details....but they do ask if i have AIDS...lol...im not goin to tell them unless i absoluty have too....i just say i have a health condition that i have to attend too and its personal....tough luck i say....get off my back
I am contracted to work a 50hr week excluding a lunch break so when I include a lunch break and travel time to and from my place of work it about equals a 65hr week. I have got anemia and neutropenia but I have managed to do this since starting tx in May. I can't say it has been easy but I have managed to get through. In some ways I find it helpful as it takes my mind off the fact I am txing and I get some sense of achievement. It is pretty hard for me to get any sense of satisfaction outside of work as I really am too tired to do the things I really like such as gardening! I must be honest tho and say there have been days when I simply could not get out of bed and get to work, and others when I have had to go home .
I have been entirely upfront with my boss and my department about my tx and update them weekly as to my progress. I have found this to be a great support and they have been very understanding and supportive throughout. I have also had a pact with myself that if I needed to I would drop down to a 4 day week but so far this hasn't happened.
Day by day, that's the way I live my life on tx. Sometimes hour by hour...
'it wasnt my f- you finger tho....'
that would have been a real shame, wouldn't it?
YOU SAID:You'll fall asleep at the keyboard trying to post
i work a brake press bending 20 gauge to 12 gauge metal...its not easy for the un experienced...but im a professional....LOL...no time to fall asleep
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00708500?recr=open&cond=%22Digestive+System+Diseases%22&rank=29
This study involves treatment with boceprevir or placebo in combination with PegIntron (PEG) + Ribavirin (RBV) (weight-based dosing [WBD]) in adult subjects with chronic hepatitis C (CHC) genotype 1 who demonstrated interferon responsiveness (a decrease in HCV-RNA viral load >=2 log10 by Week 12 or undetectable HCV-RNA at end of treatment) but who failed to achieve sustained virologic response (SVR) on prior treatment with any combination therapy of peginterferon alpha and ribavirin. This trial includes three arms, one control arm (PEG + RBV for 48 weeks) and two experimental arms (PEG + RBV + boceprevir). One of the experimental arms consists of treatment with all three drugs for 44 weeks after the lead-in. The other experimental arm consists of all three drugs for 32 weeks after the lead-in. Those subjects who were undetectable for HCV-RNA at Week 8 will complete treatment at that point. Those who were not undetectable for HCV-RNA at Week 8 will receive an additional 12 weeks of PEG + RBV + boceprevir placebo. It is hypothesized that the addition of a third active anti-HCV drug may lead to more rapid viral response than therapy with two drugs, and therefore, the addition of boceprevir to PegIntron plus ribavirin therapy after a 4-week lead-in period may allow for both increased rates of SVR and shorter treatment durations (in some populations) than treatment with peginterferon/ribavirin alone.
i actually work 10.5 hours on week days and 7.5 on saturdays...thats 60 hours exactly...its not really that bad...I LOVE WORKING...i even lift weights 3 times a week after work...LIKE MARCIA SAYS....must be all that good food i gobble back
I wouldn't want to do it....but maybe it will make you tx fly by. Are you txing for 24 weeks on the boceprevir trial? I must have missed the fact that you are in a trial. -Libby
I would love to eat your blueberry sour cream pancakes!!! If you could make them sugarfree! Sounds delicious! -Libby
A 60 hour work week is crazy
That's six 10 hour days!
You'll fall asleep at the keyboard trying to post
and we'll never hear from you again!
disregard my post above. I'm out of my country.
i will be ok....belive it or not...the tx last round made me speedy....but when i sneezed i always got dizzy....and only one finger would go numb for some strange reason, in any kind of cold weather...it wasnt my f- you finger tho....I CANT WAIT TO START TX...i want this beast out of me.
i can cancelled the 60 hour a week thing by giving a 2 week notice...its not set in stone
I think a 45-60 hour work week is very common in this country today, in the private sector.
So sorry you are facing this added stress. Last thing you need right now. Hope you can find some balance and peace.
An employee can agree in writing to work more than these limits. Such agreements are valid only if the employer gives the employee (where there is no trade union) an information sheet prepared by the ministry about hours of work and overtime before the agreement is made, and the agreement states that the employee received the information sheet. In addition, an employee cannot work more than 48 hours in a week unless the employer has an approval for excess hours from the Director of Employment Standards (subject to certain exemptions
i signed the form....im greedy
OH...
That's too bad - you wouldn't eat my blueberry sourcream pancakes then --- I drizzle white chocolate happy faces on them.
Sigh...
Hours of Work
Generally, employees cannot be required or permitted to work more than:
8 hours a day--or the number of hours in an established work day if it is more than 8;

I know you were serious Marcia.
I was joking but it's still too much for someone about
