Nausea and vomiting

I just started treatment with Telaprevit. 2 days in and I have begun getting nausea so bad I end up vomiting. I am worried I am hurting  my dosage of medication.  I have Phenergan and I am not sure exactly when to take it, when I eat the 20 mg. of fat or right before the meds. Many help is appreciated.

Thank you. I talked to my dr..today and he prescribed Zofran after I told him I had learned about it on this site.  I"ll start it tonight.   Again, thanks and hope to keep in touch.

Zofran worked for my husband.  Also raw ginger, ginger tea, and candied ginger can be soothing.

I am sorry you are feeling so nauseated and are vomiting.

If it was me, I would take the Phenergan a 10-15 minutes before eating the meal with 20 grams of fat. Then take the pills.

If that does not work, then you probably need a prescription for Zofran which blocks the nausea and vomiting (which is caused by the drugs). Many of us used Zofran. It works very well for most of us. I took 8 mg every 8 hours for a few months.

Don't let this go. It will snowball. If the phenergan does not work, then ask for Zofran. Zofran does not make you sleepy. Phenergan does. Phenergan is cheaper, but Zofran works better (in my opinion). It is used to treat the nausea from Chemo.

Plus, as youi said, if you vomit enough doses, it may affect treatment outcome.

Hope you get relief soon.

sorry to hear you are having problems. Phenergan that's an antihistimine, right? did you doc prescribe it? if so follow the directions. I am also on triple with Incivek. I'm in my 4th week and have been taking zertec (antihistamine) in the morning, once a day. it is suppose to help with the rash, which i haven't seen. i don't think the Phenergan dose should be taken with the incivek. but check with your doctor.
i have really bad nausea too. i take zofran dissolve on the tongue pills, but lately they haven't been helping too much. i saw my dr this week and she prescribed prochlorperazine. it's a suppository....yikes...but it really works for me. since i started taking it on thrusday my nausea is not a problem.
also, try to eat 30 minutes before the incivek. that way if you will have a better chance of keeping the incivek down.

good luck and drink gobs of water; half or more your body weight in ounces.

good luck and keep goin, you can do it.
