bee - I think my liver is in worse shape than yours, but I hope I can keep to the non-drinking pattern. It is healthy and since my hubby quit drinking too it makes life much simpler and cheaper!
I think you can take iron, but check with your doctor. It is not recommended for older women (like me!) but may be perfectly fine for you.
Dog - I see the beginnings of a pattern here. a couple of beers a couple of times a week looks like a pattern which can accelorate. Even though you are clear of hep C now, drinking can put you into cirrhosis -- so be careful.

Working Dog -- Oh wow! I think I have been craving burgers ever since tx. Usually only have them a couple times a year. Was eating spinach until recently, when a friend got e-coli from some.
OH -- Good point on looking over my labs for the iron start point. Hadn't thought of that. The supplement you mentioned sounds like one I take (or should be taking) called: Alive.
As for alcohol....I don't want to have any before I reach SVR. I think it would mess with my head too much if my results weren't good. But I can see myself celebrating with one glass of something once this is further behind me.
Many thanks! Bee
i craved burgers for months post tx...i ate loads of them...spinach too...i felt like my body was calling for it....i started having a beer a few nights a week maybe 2 months ago at about 5 months post tx....i was 2/2 starting tx...who knows??? i think a lot has to do with where you started tx...like oh says....although if you crave something theres most likely a reason...good luck bee......billy
What condition is your liver in ? If you had fibrosis, my advice would be to avoid alcohol until your know it's regenerated. Of course an occasional drink won't hurt.
As far as iron goes, what do they look like on your labs ? Mine were high prior to tx, but now are normal. I no longer avoid high iron foods.
Supplements are not all created equal. On one hand you don't need to worry about them reacting with your meds. On the other hand if you have liver damage, some of the ingredients can be hard on your liver. I use a food based mutli-vitamin, calcium etc.
