Yes, we can see that your cutoff ratio is 1.5 which is weakly positive. What is your question to us? I answered your question asking what it means. You need further testing to know if you are truly positive, which I also mentioned in my post to you.

AWM, Thanks!  I learn something new everyday on here!  Good to know.

JoJo, I agree, with the advice to get the HVC RNA PCR test.  Then you will know, for sure.  An antibody test only shows that you have been exposed, not if you actually have the disease.

uou have come to an excellent place for information, support and just plain caring.  Please let us know how your test goes.  Pat

You are talking about the signal-to-ratio-cutoff test that is done when they test you for the antibody to hepatitis C. A negative result would be anything under 1. The higher you are above 1.0 (you are a 1.5) the more chance that your antibody test is a true positive, and not a false positive. I believe the test goes up to 10.0 or perhaps higher. So, you have a very weak positive antibody test. Your next step would be a viral load test (HCV/RNA by PCR) . If that test is positive (viral load detected) you do have hepatitis C.

Welcome to the Forum.  We are not doctors on this site, just patients, like yourself, many of whom are very experience and knowledgeable.  We all learn as much as we can, and share that knowledge with each other, and new patients coming in.  Having said that, have you checked with you Dr?

Also, if you have not, be sure to ask if they just did a hepc antibody test or a viral load test.  Antibody test only shows that you were exposed.  the Viral Load test shows whether or not you have hepc that would be the RNA PCR test.

I don't know what the rules are in Pakistan, but here, we have the right to have a cooy of the medical report.  If you do, and have a copy, will you please list the name of the test where the 'anti HVC weak Positive...' was listed?  That way, someone can give you much more specific, and helpful, information.

IF you, indeed, do have hepc, it is not as serious as it once was, especially if you have no liver damage, and if you are weak positive, I would think that you are in very early stages(again, IF you have it) and have years to decades before there is damage. So don't get anxious, just relax and get all the info you can.  There are so many new treatments now, that, even if you have it, it is curable, with 12 a 24 weeks of tx (treatment) and few, if any side affects.

Again, welcome to the Forum and Good Health, and, if needed, Good Treating!

Pat
