It is documented that a Policeman contracted Hepatitis C whilst apprehending a person, the policeman was punched once in the face, blood was spilt from both people (fist to teeth), and the policeman now has the hepatitis C.

Yippie Kie Yah geter - been trying say that all along.
isnt this a repeat question?...
Wait a minute, If you are a cop? You must be newbie and did not pay attention at the academy because there are blood pathogen classes cadets must attend when first coming on the force. Correct me if I’m wrong. I think your busted danno
geterdone
Funny how the very day rken disappeared from the forum, eddie turned up. Morphed?
Now that was rather rude. I agree with you Jim - completely.
I don't think Eddie is at any risk for HCV, HBV or HIV infection.

He said he wiped the cuffs off and sprayed them down with disinfectant when he got them back. These posts sound like 1969
What kind of paranoid angry response is that, this is supposed to be a support forum. The officer is just asking a simple question. Just how much about Hep C did you know before you became infected? If most docs aren't up to date, don't expect police officers to be.
I would probably go get tested just because you are worried. But I have lived with my Father off and on for 50 years. And I have probably had this for 30+. I have shared razors with Dad for years. He doesn't have it. And of the siblings I have managed to make get tests, no one has it.
Being a past drug user and having been arrested, I understand what you can go through. No one wants to go to jail. But you still need to show compassion for what they are experiencing and why they may be drug users in the first place. No, I believe in do the crime, do the time. And would have a hard time doing your job. I could use more compassion myself.
But I do have to ask if you used those cuffs on anyone else after. They would be the ones who would need a test. Please tell me you would never do that? Read some of these other posts and see what we are going through and never imagine wanting your worst enemy to go through this.
Yeah, I got a little offended by his other post as well. Geez, what the h-e-l-l is wrong with these people. I know they can post anything they want but this guy is in law enforcement - don't they teach them anything about contagious diseases and methods of transmission? While he's at it, maybe he should post on the hepb board and the HIV board. Give me a break!!!

Hep c is can be contracted through blood to blood contact, ie blood transfusions, iv drug use. Many people here have lived with loved ones (my self included) and no one has the disease. So, it is not easy to get it. That being said, I would go get tested since you seem so worried about it.
