pain before and after liver bx

My upper right side had a dull pain, felt like a rock or something rubbing one spot on my rib cage, after bx had sharper pain like someone taking the handle end of a butter knife and lightly pushing it between some of my upper ribs.
painful and mostly annoying, have a bloated feeling at times where it feels worse and more intense. Supposed to start tx in May, my Dr., Hep C Dr, and GI act like it is nothing, Advil, Asp, Tylenol, is no help, Dr Rx some soma, that only helped a little, from reading your problems, I feel like I am being a wuss, but it conscerns me.

My bx experience went very well. After reading here I guess a little more people than I realized had some difficulties.I spent most of my time laughing with my nurse. The doctor who did the needle biopsy did say the sample is only as big an eyelash. I found that amazing  so much information could be gather from that.I am stage 1grade 2 just started treatment 1 month ago. I am hoping when it's all said and done, some of the fatigue issues I had prior to tx will reslove.I also find it amazing how the liver can regenerate itself early on.Haven't feel like I used to, but toughing it out. I'll get through. On the bright side, there are a couple days during the week that are "not too bad". I try to use these wisely lol.Best of luck to you

Thanks, my bx showed no cirrhosis, moderate scarring and fatty tissue around the liver.
grade 2
I remember that when I was laying on my side after the procedure how uncomfortable it was, like I was laying on a tack or something. In fact they let me turn over on my back a little early after checking the bandage for blood.

I also had pain and it turned out to be a bruised lung.
They got a piece of my lung with my liver sample.
You were bruised most likely, and rest will make it feel better...

I'm sorry you had some pain after your biopsy. Most people do not. What were your results? The liver itself is non feeling.  A largely inflammed liver can press on the rib cage causing discomfort and even making it hard to breath.. Bloating is a symptom of Hepatitis also. Sometimes these are more commom when the grade (inflammtion) is higherm but not always.
