I am very sorry for the Congressman.
In order for HCV to get the kind of advocacy needed, some very well known important people with this infection will have to surface.
It wasn't until the likes of Rock Hudson, Ryan White, Freddy Mercury, and Magic Johnson put famous faces on HIV that major strides were made into developing the kinds of treatment options there are now.
The recent news that new HCV infections are increasing in HIV positive men, while tragic, may energize the gay community in fighting for advocacy and better treatment options for HCV.

The gay and lesbian communities were relentless in their efforts to further HIV advocacy and treatment advances. I wish there was similar advocacy for HCV.
Best to all,
Robo
Me either Susan. I was taking 15mcgs daily. I thought it was a pretty rough treatment.
Yea, I've used Infergen on 3 of my treatments and the 1st time was in 1998 and it was actually an FDA approved drug at that time.., I was not in a trial when I was using it on any of those TX's.

HAHAHAHA. Now nygirl, are you trying to say that this is a sexually transmitted disease???? You guys are so funny.
BTW, just found out that the "experimental" treatment is Concensus Interferon. Wow, I didn't know when I used that in 1995 it was experimental.
The only good thing I can say is that with HR3974 in Congress right now, it might help our cause a little bit. But I hate to hear when someone is suffering and I can't work up any excitement over his diagnosis.
OK when details like this start coming out it just goes to show you why a woman like this appeared on Tool Academy - here's looking at you Jaimee.
Tiger Woods Didn't Wear Condoms With Two Flings
Us Magazine - 4 hours ago
Jaimee Grubbs -- a 24-year-old cocktail waitress who broke the news to Us Weekly that she had a 31-month affair with Tiger Woods -- says the golfer, 33, never wanted to use protection.
Just don't let him use your car.
Since the perks seem pretty good I'm thinking of professional golf for a living. We may be able to work something out.
If you weren't married FLG I swear I'd be on the next JetBlue to you!
In one of the articles on the subject and filed under "go figure"...
"The Lithonia Democrat's already-thin frame has shed 30 pounds in the past year. His speech is slower than ever, and he regularly gets lost in thought in the middle of a discussion. He is easily fatigued and irritable"
(I'm pretty sure it's a reference to his treatment since I know that I can't make political comments. I guess "God Bless the Congressman" is also not allowed.) Although I need to admit that I'm a little perplexed about the 'no religion discussion' after seeing all those Berkson threads.
PS of course i had to go read the article on this brave man battling this "incurable disease"....I think they meant he was UND in January and is on a trial.
Other than that you are 100% right - what a dreadful article. Of course he has no idea how he got the disease though - must have some connection with his fortune teller.
Congrats to him on his courage.......uh.............never mind.
