Well, me and my best-friend have both known we had it for years, so when she came up with her low viral-load, I did research this phenomena.
I came up with one personal account, of a person who had cleared it, but I dont believe everything I read on teh internets...hurrr.
But I also came up with this statistic, from another study, which had a quote of .74 to 1% of people can clear chronic HCV.
meanwhile, everytime I ask my treatment Doctor about my friend, she roles her eyes, and says my friend should go back and get tested again (she has, twice more, since the first low vl) My Doctor has been treating people for Hep C for years, and has never seen a chronic Hepper clear the virus on their own.
Of course, my Doctor isn't always right.
I forgot to ask her today, I have been with this doctor for almost 3 months and when I was being tested at the VA hospital all those years I never asked. But they are the ones who discovered that I had it and kept testing my VL and I had a outside doctor test me and the VL was in the millions about 8 years ago. But with this new gastroenterologist there is no genotype to test and she did order my genotype with this last test. And years ago at the VA I would always forget to ask what type that I was. I tried to run from the fact that I had it for a good while, because I was afraid that I was going to die, because I seen it kill one of my best friends in 1992 about the time that they started calling it Hep C.
This is interesting, because my best friend had her viral load drop, from 6,000,000 , five years ago, to 200, this year. She has had it tested two or three times,in the last half year, and it has gotten as low as 80, I believe, but the most recent one was 200.
She is genotype 2, do you know what type you are?
I got clean and sober and used Milk Thistle, I also used it when I was getting high too, along with high doses of vitamin C in the 3 to 4000mg range. And I tried to stay away from things that could trigger a flare up, like a lot of meat and eating foods that were cooked in a iron frying pan etc. I really think that the Milk Thistle helped though, I would really love to think that it did. In Europe they do use it to combat Hep C, but in America most doctors have a problem with it. But not my doctor. Otherwise than that I don't know why it is gone.
Really if this is all true you could be in for some big bucks, all they'd have to do for a cure is find out what is in your blood and...well that sounds like a vampire movie I just saw..... ;)
Wow very cool, I'd call a drug company and tell they you will allow them to study your body for some $$$$$$$.
Awesome!!!!!
Whats your secret
Do u eat a certain way, vitamin D or other supplements ?
Thanks
I have had about 10 VL test done over the years. I also had a biopsy done in 2005 and there was no liver damage whatsoever and that was after finding out that I had it in 94. My liver use to swell up and especially after drinking. Now my ex girlfriend who I use to share needles with when I was on drugs in the 90's liver is in trouble, she is not doing good, and she is on the liver transplant program. And also my ultra sound last month came up clean as a whistle.
Studies in Ireland and elsewhere how shown that 40% of patients who are antibody positive have cleared the virus and have no viral load. However, that happens in the first 6 months after exposure to the virus. I haven't heard of anyone clearing later. Do you know if your original viral load test done right after exposure?
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!
15-20% can clear it on their own after the acute phaze...I have never heard of someone clearing it after a chronic infection though. How many VL tests have they run? I hope more than one. I hope you remain clear :)
Best wishes,
Laura
