Hot and itchy at the injection site?
That does not go away?
That is interesting. I understand the antihistamine prescribed makes your skin feel dry but did you happen to notice if it helped with ease the itch and redness and the injection site? How about the bump? Any irritant can cause a histamine release so that is why I wondered about that. I could be way off base but since ice and a topical steroid do not help I was wondering about infection.
Much of what you have said is normal but the 'not going away aspect is something I would keep an eye on and ask about.
Not entirely certain what you mean by "over active bowel movement" however diarrhoea is a known side effect of Telaprevir. In my case it would happen if I did not eat take my Incivek with enough fat. After it happened a few other times I got in the habit of taking Loperamide virtually every day.
antihistamine to stop the itch and redness
These meds alone can make one's skin feel dry so I would not discount the importance of taking an antihistamine to stop the itch and redness. At this point I encourage you to keep an eye on it and do not let it escalate. I am not saying it will but some side effects are difficult to contain once they have snowballed.
I am glad to learn that what I'm getting is very normal - I am on telaprevir (6 a day)ribavirin (1in the morning 2 after dinner) and interferon.
I have been also prescribed a antihistamine to stop the itch and redness but I wouldn't take it in case it dries my skin out :(
I had a second injection yesterday and it looks better than the first one i had (red itchy one) its probably due to the ice pack application soon after the injection. I bet SD would get worse from now on so I will take any preventative measure possible :)
hi have you tried doing jab top of leg then at least clothes wont be rubbing the injection site mmight make it a bit easier my hubby done all his jabs in legs and no probs. Good luck with rest of tx
What treatment are you on?
Hello and Welcome to the Forum!
Your side effects are pretty normal with treatment. Not so sure about the Electric shock, but the BM's during treatment are normal and the redness at the injection site is normal.I had 12wks treatment and all 12 injections were still there on my 12th week.I rotated all over my stomach to give the shots.
What medications are you on for treatment? There are a lot of people on this forum that can answer your Q's.I just reach SVR 27weeks at end of tx.I am HepC free after my tx..Hang around and feel free to ask questions thats what this forum is for.Good Luck with your tx.
