Starting Triple Therapy with boceprevir tomorrow.

I was supposed to start in October but couldnt afford it.  Then all of a sudden they call me and switched my pharmacy and i got approved for a grant so its not free.  I feel so lucky right now.  Now they want me to pick it up today and start tomorrow... I'm scared but I'm off work til the 22nd so hopefully i'll recover by then.  How was your first interferon injection?  And does it get a little easier each time?  I work every third weekend so I wonder how I'll feel the friday before my weekend to work.  I'm 28 years old otherwise a healthy active woman.

Hi there. If you are doing triple tx with boceprevir, you have a 4 week lead in period. I did not have much of a side effect from my first shot and overall the first few weeks were not too bad. Once I introduced the boceprevir, it took a few days until it really hit me. Dehydration was one of my biggest enemies.
Everyone is different. Your labs should be monitored closely by your doctor. I was lucky because I didn't have sudden drops with WBC's and rbcs. Yes, I did end up taking procrit for anemia.
Although I rested a lot, having to get up, and go to work was good for me. I felt yucky a lot but too much down time also made me yucky.
Overall,
Get the required labs
Drink lots of water
Rest, rest, rest
Try some regular exercise
Don't miss your scheduled meds
Don't hesitate to call your doctor if you have problems
Be wary of dose reductions; talk it out with your doctor

Wishing you the best on treatment,
C
BTW, I am waiting for my 12 week post tx VL results,(Boceprevir )

You're very lucky! It will be great to have a little time before going to work. Some people are able to work the whole time. I had to due to insurance.

I was a Friday shot girl. Some weekends were the pits. Honestly, sometimes the aches and fever kicked in on Monday. You may find a rhythm in how you feel, but it's a take it as you go kind of therapy.

I'm happy that you got approved for meds. Get it over with and be free of the virus!
My best to you, Karen:)
