Hi Debbie, I have had intermittent pains on the right side, and sometimes on the left side. It is IBS, Metamucil will work wonderfully, and of course a change and experimentation in diet will help. No dairy or very little will be very beneficial. I have been hepc positive for 40 years. Sometimes I will throw caution to the wind a have a milk shake, knowing I will pay the price with discomfort and pain the next day. Usually I do, but not all the time. Good luck!   Taboo40

Hi Deb,
This is the answer to the question you asked me earlier:
I found out I had it in 1990 when I went to give blood for the first time. I got a letter in the mail telling me they found hep c virus. I went to my dr for a second opinion and sure enough. I was given blood when my son was born in 1982. Alot of factors play into whether I want to take a chance on the tx. I have geno 1B which is one of the toughest to treat. I have to work and have noone to take of me financially. Plus I have no faith in chemo therapy's. From what I have read I the odds are 50/50. My symptoms have gotten alittle worse over the past couple years. I am already so tired all the time and I have bouts with depression. I finally found something to help with the aches and pains. I just don't want to deal with feeling worse for the next year on a gamble. They have to give me better odds. I have see what chemotherapy and rads do to people only to have it come back in different form (not to say they treat this with rad). I just don't have any faith in drs. BUT this is how I feel. Everyone has to make there own choices. I still have a biopsy at the end the month. I will wait to hear what the dr says before making a final decision. I pray that all will be well with you and just do what your heart tells ya. God be with you :)

Lots of people develop all sorts of IBS type problems during treatment so it could be that.

Eating greasy foods etc. sure could set off a pancreatic attack or it could be gallstones.

If your blood work comes back ok my guess would be the first though because I'd imagine there are very obvious signs for the latter.

Yes, I have had and still do from time to time, pain in the right side. I have almost blacked out a couple of times from the pain. I have had a series of tests done by multiple doctors (regular dr, digestive diseases dr, Infectious disease dr) and NOT one of them can tell me exactly what it is. One dr did a CT and found a grapefruit size cyst coming off my right tube (ovary), so I had a hysterectomy to remove all of it. That helped but the pain still comes and goes (Just not as frequent and not as intense). I have found that eating corn or greasy foods, extreme stress triggers it off. So needless to say I stay away from the foods and I try not to overstuff. And since my appetite is **** anyway, that helps. I still have a full feeling most of the time, but I don't have the pain as frequent. Still do not know what it is. I have started to think that maybe it is my liver due to hepc. Maybe this dr can give me an answer after the biopsy.  I usually take off any clothes around my waist area and lay on my stomach for awhile and it seems to subside. I do hope you find what is it soon. Good Luck to you and God Bless.....

did you have a biopsy recently? this can give you pains as liver heals from getting procedure done. i have read some people do have right side pain from just having HCV. and with others it turned out to be their gall bladder. good luck
