Better take the flannels just in case. I just couldn't stay warm throughout my treatment. And pack a little patience and sense of humor. And tolerance.... don't forget that. And if you're going to take temperament, you won't need much. Pad of paper and pen for when your brain turns to jello. Welcome and good luck! Enjoy your weekend hideaway!
our hideaway is about 2 hours from home, at the home where he grew up. His brother & sister-in-law will be there this weekend too. ( when their parents passed away, siblings share home) Planned family thing--- BUT, sis in law just had gall bladder surgery a few days ago..... the new plan is === the guys are gonna baby us ( and if it really happens that way she & I will both be surprised) We leave out Friday and don't come back til Tuesday night..... I will let you all know how it went
Treatment is a box of chocolates. On tx our hideaway home got a lot of use. Mostly it was me getting away alone. In my case, I was glad to get away by myself and my family was glad to see me go. It worked out great.
weather wise, we are expecting temps in the 70's & 80's this weekend,,,,, do you think I'll still have chills? should I take flannel pajamas & an extra blanket to our hideaway home where my husband and I are escaping to for a long weekend.
In my experience tx is like pacifiers and being the parent of two children. You start out determined to follow everything by the letter (boiling a dropped pacifier of the first born). As you continue through tx you try to do the best you can to make it through (second child's pacifier is almost wiped on a sleeve). The essence of tx is taking your meds and sticking with the schedule. Then, you make sure that you get in for your labs - including pcrs, and making sure that your doc is managing your sx's. Whatever you can do to get yourself to the end is what you need to do. Millions of people have done it, it's just your turn.
ginger ale and electric blanket were my best friends during the first couple weeks of tx - And yes, you really need to pay attention to fever throughout tx - usually fever is a sign of infection - But after shot of Interferon fever is not uncommon, if it is not too high...Tylenol will do the trick with that in most cases..
Gold Bond never worked for me I got a script from dermatologist..
Be prepareds for your taste buds to go whacky - I was a vegetarian most of my adult life and once I started Interferon I craved MEAT! LOL
Best of luck to you and pamper yourself, you deserve it!

In class they just said that if fever goes over 103 to call the dr. I don't have any way to know where 103 is. That is why I thought thermometer. I was figuring on a cheap digital oral. or even the old kind of oral,,,,, don't plan on getting the other kind.
Forget the thermometer. You will have chills or sweats, probably both. Knowing your temp will only remind you that you don't feel well (that is IF you don't feel well). But, if you are committed to getting a new thermometer make sure you read the label. What worked for kids might not be appropriate for doing a self-check. Unless you are also a contortionist. Good luck.
how bout if I substitute Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia for the double fudge? I gotta go track down my heating pad, I loaned it to a friend who loaned it to a friend....LOL Got a long weekend so the rest is on the schedule, water is on the list, so I soup and gingerale., I added gold bond. a few days ago I saw that someone put in about ginger hard candy--- where do I find that?
Tylenol right before shot. Lot's of water. Lot's of rest. Lot's of TLC. Prayer. Ede's Double Fudge Brownie Ice Cream :) Soup Pudding Jello Sprite/Ginger Ale Gold Bond or Eucerin, whichever works best for you A heating pad That's about all I can think of for now!
