i ve heard this is so , being male i have no actual experiance, i ve heard bleeding can be heavier too, hopefully a few ladies will be along to assist you further
It is very common. After a few months of treatment my period stopped completely. Some never get it back. It is called medically induced menopause. Mine did come back around 6 months post treatment. But now it is a mess again. Btw, I am 47. I guess age has to do with it too.
I didn't have one for all 72 weeks of treatment but as soon as i finally got the interferon out of my body - there it was again like clockwork, damn!
PS Marcia mine is a mess too and so are a few other women that have just finished treatment that I know from here. Unfortunately we all are the same age so I'm not sure which reason it is..........but it *****! It's coming by every two weeks now and that is making me crazy - almost like it's trying to make up for all the cycles it missed during tx!
Interesting about the medically induced menopause. I guess I won't know for sure if that's what happened to me because prior to tx, I was on the pill to stop my period. I quit taking it straight through (skip the sugar pill week) and it never came back. Might have just went through the change early. I really wasn't surprised when it didn't come back when I quit the pill, which was right before tx began because I read on this forum that one woman's came back at age 55, 3 yrs after she went through menopause. What a horrible thought. I better not tx again, it might come back!
Yeah. I read the info that came with the meds and they mention it can mess w/m. cycles.
I still got mine normally but at least twice I got really bad backaches (this never happened before) and it was less, darker and grainy) I have yet to find out how it will return once I get it again.....
Will keep you posted! hehe!

I am wk 18 of treatment and getting hot flashes for the last 2 weeks about 5-9 times per day.
I know it can be my age, no periods now, however never had them until recently. I thought I read that the tx drugs
can start menopause?
Thinking of having my estrogen tested. In Oct I was not in menopause, estrogen fine.
well Im only 32 so I hope I dont start menopause yet!! I did however start my period early and it was quite heavy and lasted for almost 2wks!!!
It totally did for me. Maybe it had to do with the platelet counts during treatment, but my white and red blood cells would always fall during that time of the month even post treatment. Super heavy during treatment, but post treatment, it's almost back to normal.
If I'm not mistaken medically induced menopause from tx only happens to women who are close to menopausal age. I would not even worry about it in your case. You are way too young. It's could be pretty messed up for a while, but you will get back to normal.
Hi There Ktee319
I was just recently treated for Hepatitis and I have also not not my period. It is going to almost a month now. Perhaps this is due to the treatment.
