Hep C Tested Positive for Antibodies

Greetings,

My husband (47 years old) just recently tested positive for antibodies for Hep C.  He was tested because we are going through fertility treatments.  He had multiple blood transfusions (prior to 1992) due to a serious infection in his leg and many surgeries.  We are assuming that is when he was exposed.  A doctor has been monitoring his liver functions pretty regularly for the past 3 years because he has been on lipitor.  His functions were all normal except for one time about a month after starting lipitor when then were slightly elevated. But they came back down into normal range by the next reading about 2 months later and have stayed normal since.  Symptoms include tired and muscle aches, but he also has low testosterone due to testicular failure which could be causing these symptoms as well

He testsed positive and then it was confirmed on another test for antibodies with a 1.5 s/co ratio.  Anyone know what the ration means?  Is this really high for antibodies?

In your opinions, what is the likelihood that he cleared the virus?

We are heading to a specialist next week, but that is a long time to wait to hear news like this.  How long does it usually take to get the results from the PCR test?

Thank you for your time!

Hi and welcome.  20% Of people clear the virus on there own after being infected with Hepatitis C.  Your husband's  Hepatitis Viral Load Test will
confirm if your husband has cleared the virus or currently infected with hepatitis C.  It takes about a week to get the results back after the blood a blood draw.
