I'm currently on interferon tx and not up on the clinical trials, you'll have to do the research yourself.
None of these things are now available except in trial.
Good luck.
hello if this study has 100 success with g2 and 3 then when would it be avaliable i also read in the article about nucletide nucleosides
Thank you all for the important information I really appreciate it. :-)
The trial idea is definitely an option.
The other thing I might suggest is to get a second opinion from a different reputable hepatologist. Doctors don't always agree on the best course of action. If you can find a good hepatologist who will spend some time discussing your options and who will listen to your wishes and opinions, that would be optimal.
There may be factors that affected your husbands viral breakthough (age, ethnicity, weight, etc.). Ethnicity cannot be changed, nor can age, but weight, length of treatment, dosages can all be changed, and possibly other factors can be changed too which might give your husband a better chance at SVR.
I would definitely keep trying to get treatment if I was him.
Here are a couple of interesting articles I found:

Your insurance may refuse to pay if th Dr does not recomend it.
I'm sorry I misunderstood the original question.
Advocate's idea of a trial is excellent.
There have been great results for genotype 2 and 3.
This is from last July, 2011.
PSI-7977 plus Standard Therapy Cures 100% of Genotype 2-3 Hepatitis C Patients
Pharmasset's investigational hepatitis C virus (HCV) polymerase inhibitor PSI-7977 combined with pegylated interferon/ribavirin cured 100% of people with HCV genotype 2 and 3 in the Phase 2b PROTON trial; sustained response results for hard-to-treat genotype 1 patients are expected later this year.
24 out of 24 subjects with HCV genotype 2 or 3 achieved an SVR after 12 weeks of treatment with PSI-7977 400mg QD and pegylated interferon and ribavirin

I don't know very much about genotype 3. I think the protocol for genotype 3 is 24 weeks of interferon and ribavirin, and from reading your other posts, your husband was UND and then had a viral breakthrough at week 23 of his previous treatment. Perhaps your husband's strain of genotype 3 is resistant to interferon? Have you looked into the research to see if there are clinical trials in your area testing any new drugs for genotype 3?

Yes it should be up to the patient. My husband just went to a doctor at the university of Virginia and my husband wanted to do tx again and the doctor said it wasn't a good idea because the out come would probely be the same and also said there was nothing he could do now because he was genotype 3 .
That should have read, 'its always up to us."
How I wish there was an edit option.
Oh come on. Its always to us.
We are still the owners of our bodies.
