Treatment naive, seeking education

Hi,
I'm 24 years old, and found out when I was 21 that I was Hep-C positive. Since then, I have seen a doctor twice, with very poor follow up each time. The most recent visit consisted of blood tests and an ultra sound, the results of which I'm not sure - I simply received a letter in the mail that said "HCV replication noted." I've never been treated for it, but would like to, just have no idea where to start. A summary of my options would be much appreciated.

Hey and welcome! Right now its a really exciting time for those with HCV as there are many new meds in the pipeline. You do have options. I treated my HCV with Interferon and Ribavirin and am now cured. You may want to wait for a newer interferon free regimen to come out. In the mean time, you should find a good Hepatologist or Gastroenterologist that has experience treating patients with HCV. One that is actively treating patients with HCV and is up to date with all the new literature.

You mentioned some testing you have had done. You will want to get copies of your lab results. Many here can help you read them. You need to be tested to see what genotype you have. That is an important factor in what type  of medication you will need.

The most important thing is Hep C is curable! You can beat this.
