Have any of you guys while on treatment had erection problems?  I know my red blood count is low which I guess could be a factor.

The first time I treated, it just didn't work while treating.  Nor was I interested in it as I was sick unto death.  After being taken off at 6-months as a non responder I could suddenly cut diamonds with it within a month after stopping the meds.

This time around it is pretty much the same.  I am at 7-months and looking forward (hopefully) to cutting some more diamonds.  I am hoping I won't need the ED meds to do it.  I didn't last time.  We'll see.

I guess it is different for everyone.

Just another follow up comment regarding erectile problems and HCV.  The ED issues associated with tx are not the ONLY problem when it comes to HCV.  There have been a variety of studies that have tracked statistics on ED issues related to just having HCV.  From what I recall, the ED percentages in those who have HCV run about three times as high as the general population, for the same age groups.  So there can be a double whammy for many of us...If the HCV did not already cause ED issues, the therapy might just do it on its own.  Combine both forces, and you have a good chance of running into the ED wall.  Thank goodness for the Elvis tune and "Viva Viagra"...or in this case Levitra...its more targeted to ED with less wide ranging side effects from my experience, and from what I have read.  So maybe its time to sit your two tubs out on the mountainside, hold hands....and reach for the Rx!!!!!  Things could be worse!

Please understand that HCV interferon treatment is notorious for causing ED.  My doctor routinely prescribed ED drugs to many of his male patients while they were doing tx.  One of the more disturbing consequences, is that for many of us, the ED more or less remained after finishing therapy and getting the SVR.  No one that I have spoken to is really sure why this sometimes happens...but as far as I am concerned...interferon can cause a wide range of long term problems for some people who undergo therapy.  Maybe the auto-immune characteristics that are sometimes provoked by tx are responsible for the ED issue, or maybe it is more a central nervous system alteration, or even more chemical/hormonal, etc.  Few answers exist out there...just know that you are NOT alone in your problems.
