Undectable at First Bloodwork

My friend had his first bloodwork done - at 5 weeks, and is now in his 7th weeks.

His results came back, and he was told over the phone that the disease is now "undectable."  How much does this mean at this point?  Obviously it's a good thing.  All the suffering at least means something right now.

He has an appt. set for Jan. 10th to see his Specialist.

Congrats on the UND!  Hopfully what you meant was the test was taken at the end of the 4th week ,as that is when the first critical result is used to decide how long he would treat when doing the therapy with Incivek.
Always good to try and get a copy of your results as suggested above so as  there would be no mis -comunication of levels over the phone

Again...great early result ,,he should do well..

Wonderful news! Woohoo! Those blood tests that reveal UND is what keeps us going those first several weeks. Congratulations!

Thank You.

I am trying to learn as much as I can about all of it.

He has been suffering with vomiting so much that he carries plastic grocery store bags around with him in his pockets... he cried on the phone while talking to the nurse - but i was glad to find out when he hung up that they were happy tears.

I hope that he continues to be successful - he was almost ready to give it all up (the treatments).

An undetectable = UND is a wonderful word to hear early in treatment and a good predictor of success.  I'd suggest that your friend get a copy of each and every lab test and keep a file.  Congrats to your friend.
