milk thistle

Hi there,

My dad just found out he has Hep C and I've been searching everything I can and saw sites that say milk thistle helps protect the liver from damage.  Just wondering if anybody is using this?

Thanks.  My dad isn't a drinker, thank god!  He had a biopsy already and now they are doing one more on Thursday.  Not sure why, my dad dosn't tell us too much and says its nothing to worry about.  He is getting fluid drained from his belly Wednesday and biopsy next day.  He had the last biopsy in July.  Just worried and looking for ways  for him to be healthier.   Thanks so much you two for getting back to me.

Many believe Milk Thistle (myself being one) benificial but it is not the answer to HCV. Important steps--QUIT DRINKING/DRUGING!!!! if he still is. Work on a healthy lifestyle (diet/exercise) GET a biopsy as it is NEEDED to make informed decisions. RELAX, this is a very slowing moving disease and you most likely have time to get your head around it. jerry
