what about fiber supplements and high fiber foods, like fiber one products....??? should you not take these while on TX???
i need my fiber
LOL
and you are correct, the husks help with loose stools and constipation... It regulates your bowel movements either way
You should not take it within two hours before or after the riba.... or with other medications or vitamin. You can risk that it will transport them right through your body without them being absorbed in your intestines.
My doc said that ispaghol husk has both functions. It solves both constipation and loose stool problem. i read this on this forum that fiber in ispaghol husk stops riba absorbtion, that is why i was worried about. My is question is still un-answered. I wanna know is it true that husk creat hurdle in absorption of riba??
I know someone who used psyllium husk during tx and SVR'd; I wouldn't go overboard, and only use it for constipation.
BTW, I have to tell you that my digestion (almost 3 months post) has improved beyond compare. I was diagnosed with IBS almost 20 years ago (before the HCV was confirmed). While eating well helped, I would literally celebrate when I had a good bowel motion and things were getting worse!! I am now daily regular (and celebrating every day over it too!!!). During tx it was horrible.
I hope it's a good sign, but long-term prognosis aside, I am so relieved (pun) that some good things are happening right now. It all started improving about 4-5 weeks post, and knowing all the troubles you've had too, I thought I'd better share!!!
Frankly i am quite surprised to know that you are taking Psyllium Husk ( Ispaghol Husk) from last two months, i beleive you always said that you have diarrhoea then WHY you are taking this. As per my knowledge, this is a laxative and most frequentally used by Constipation patients. Any person already having diarrhoea should not use any laxative.
Moreover, Riba absorption increases and also its side effects decreases if we take it with food rich in fats.
