Viral Hepatitis

Hello,

I have had high (both over 100) liver enyzemes since October of 2008.  After having several blood tests, sonogram and a liver biopsy, my Doctor told me today that I had Viral Hepatitis and there was not any treatment for it.  He stated that it would just have to run its course.  My question is he stated that I do not have A, B, or C Hepatitis.  So what is Viral Hepatitis? I have had it for five months now, how long can it last? Any advise or information would be greatly appreciated.

Wow; Hepatitis A is the only hepatitis I’m aware of that is self-resolving in nature; it only has an acute phase, and doesn’t progress to chronic. Can you give us anymore info? Do you know what tests were performed? The best thing for you to do is call your doctor’s office and ask him to be more specific; you might have been exposed to Hep C, for instance, and never developed a chronic case; that would leave you antibody positive, RNA negative, for instance.

Call you doc’s office and ask some more questions, I’m afraid.

Take care—

Bill
