Week 44 - should I continue ?

HCV SINCE 1980, geno 1b, stage 2-3 grade 2-3, 4 shots left to complete 48 weeks of treatement with Peg and Riba.
I feel relatively well, UND since week 8, LFT stil not within norm range.

Should I suggest to continue tratement for 72 weeks ?

I have 2 spare injections and Riba , should I decice by myself to continue the treatement for 50 weeks ?

Thank you,
Jack

Undie @ wk 8…no need to go to 72wks in my book.

Maybe taper the last two shots to possibly ward off any potential colds or flu post-tx.

ME: I had four spare shots at the end of 48. Procrastinated for a month prior to EOT as to whether or not taper the meds, but when I got there, I decided enough was enough and eventually SVRed.

20-20 vision in hindsight- but I spared myself another month of feeling like sh!t and my LFTs normalized post-tx.

Congrats on getting this far into tx.
If you can take another two weeks, why not? It's not something I could have done, I cleared by 3 weeks and quit at 16 weeks.
I'm a geno 2 so I never planned on doing 48 weeks.
Good luck!

This would be a perfect time to get a PCR either Quest or Lab corp. down to <2 and then go from their. If it was below <2 I'd say forget it and end treatment at 48 weeks. If you're a gamer and want peace of mind go with the 4 extra weeks and taper.

I think most doctors would not extend to 72 if you cleared at wk 8,not clearing till wk 12 is another matter...but me personally...i would do 2 extra weeks for good measure...again tho...there are some agressive docotrs out there and i have one of them...his name is Dr Finneman...well know around the world...

Personally I don't see why you should extend treatment to 72 weeks, if you cleared at 8 weeks. If I had extra shots and riba, I would definitely do 50 weeks.

Good luck,

Marcia
