Vertex and Telipavar (?) Trials

Have you participated in a trial. I would love to hear what trial you did and how long you have been undetectable for. I am thinking about participating in the trial. I read one article where it suggested that the virus could become immune to the medicine so I am just wondering what are the results past 24 weeks post. I have also heard so many good things and I would like to give it a shot.

Please tell me your experience.

Not sure i am posting in the correct spot. Thanks

To learn all the abbreviations that are used on the forum, towards the bottom right of this page is a section called Most Viewed Health Pages.  Look under Common Hepatitic C Acronyms.  That will make everything easier to understand :-

Keep us posted on how things go.

Best of luck to you.

SOC = Standard of Care...Peg and Riba.

I am also in Telaprevir trial...just started week 15...so far only few sx. The worst being fatigue. I ended the Telaprevir / Placebo part of the trial a couple of weeks ago and am now on SOC only. I do feel different now but I am getting more sleep and started an anti depressant in the last couple of weeks.

Good luck to you...if you have any questions I would be happy to answer...

Not in any trials but thinking about the Telaprevir.  I am a terrible speller.  Want to know my trick to spell telaprevir?   After the initial e, all the vowels are in alphabetical order (a-e-i).

The telaprevir trial for naive is recruiting now - maybe full.  the trial for relapsers will start maybe after the first of the year and they haven't started recruiting yet

Hi Blonde,

I was in the Vertex Prove 3 trial also as a non-responder to standard treatment.  I was a Geno 1b infected for 20+ years.

The arm of Prove 3 I got into was 12 weeks with Interferon, Riba and VX 950 followed by 12 weeks of Interferon (INF) and riba.  I went undetectable between week 1-2 and just yesterday found out I'm still undetectable 48 weeks after stopping treatment.

I'm cured.

It's been a real bee-atch getting to this point but well worth the effort.

Good luck,

miked

I am currently in week 8 of the Telaprevir treatment naive trial and am doing well. I am very happy to be in this trial.  I will getting either the telaprevir or a placebo for either 8 or 12 weeks and treat for a total of 24 or 48 weeks.

When you find the details of the trial you are looking at, post them and you will get lots of good input.

Good luck to you :-)

I participated in the Prove 3 trial.  I failed standard treatment 7 times before the Telaprevir.  I was randomized into an arm with 24 weeks of Telaprevir  and SOC followed by another 24 weeks of SOC.

I am now SVR, so I am very glad I participated.
