When does hair grow back?

Unquestionably my hair is much thinner and I'm vain enough to fret. Quick recap: Stopped telaprevir at 10.5 weeks; interferon and riba ten days later all due to DRESS (severe drug reaction).  Trailing off prednisone now after four weeks.  My impression here is that hair loss can continue after tx stops. For those who have been through it, how long did it fall out? How long post-tx did it take to grow back?  If my hairline gets any higher, they will be able to use my forehead as a seawall in New Jersey.  Thanks in advance for your insights.

Hello, day late dollar short Dee here
I lost about 80 85% of my hair, only had enough for the old "comb over" my hair continued to fall out for about 3 months post.
Now, I am 10 months post and like PCDS I have all lengths of hair now growing in.  It is funny to see all these different lengths.  My beautician asked if I had cut my hair.
I have curls coming in where before I had straight hair, not sure if this is "chemo curls" or if my hair is returning to pre HCV when I had wavy hair.
It does come back and at time even better than before
Good luck.

I lost about half or more of my hair during 24 weeks of tx.  It stopped falling out about 2 weeks post.  Now I am 10 months post tx.  What I have noticed is all your hair does not start to grow at the same time.  Much of it does, but I have many 3, 4, 5 inch strands all over the top of my head.  My hair initially seemed finer when it started to grow again, but not so much anymore.  I expect it will be 18month to 2 yrs for my hair to be completely normal.  I started looking much better 2 months post tx.  I wore a wig from a few months before starting tx to 2 months post.  Best investment I ever made.  Hope this helps you understand.

I lost about 80% of my hair during my 48 wk. tx. It started growing back at about 36 weeks but then more fell out again. I'm now 7 weeks post-tx and it is still both falling out and growing in at more or less the same time, so I'm still not gaining on it. My recommendation is to get yourself some snazzy hats to keep the self-consciousness down – you might even end up liking the look enough to keep on wearing them, especially now that the weather is cooling down for most of us.

I'm really sorry you had to go through that DRESS experience!

Most of us aren't on prednisone so I can't say how that affects your hair growth.

As Bo said, it differs but it will grow back.

Mine continued to fall out for several weeks post tx but even then was beginning to grow back in a few places. The first growth was like fine baby hair, that was followed by my normal thick mane. I lost about 75% of my hair but it's back !

Everybody seems to experience a different pattern,
with the hair loss thing. Mine didn't begin to fall out until a few weeks after my Tx. Then I started taking a form of vitamin B, called Biotin. My hair stopped falling out at about 10 weeks post Tx.
