HCV risk of transmission through anal sex

What is the chances of transmission of HCV through insertive anal sex if no blood is visible? I understand that even microscopic amounts of blood can transmit.

I had a bleeding finger during sex and am concerned that microscopic amounts of blood could still be passed from my left hand, which removed the condom, probably by pulling it off from its tip, to a cut on my knuckle on my right hand.

I believe I touched the cut with my left hand several hours later. Might the skin be repaired enough to form a sufficient barrier? The cut was on a knuckle so took some time to repair properly because of being on a bending joint.

I did wash my hands after the act though. Could this help wash any blood particles off?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you. I'm so terrified I can hardly eat, sleep or enjoy anything. And it's HIV worries too. I consoled myself with the reality that the odds are 1000-1 or similar and even if I'm unlucky there then I'm on PEP, which gives me a 50-80% chance. However, then I read too much and it turns out high viral load shoots the chances up to up to as high as 1 in 5.

I feel like the next 6 weeks will be hell.

Thanks for your help.

I agree that there may be a slight chance that you could have been exposed to the hepc virus so if only for peace of mind please go and get yourself tested. Good-luck and let us know how you get on. All the best Jules

High risk sex has down falls.   Your taking chances and this can lead to many different kinds of infection.   Yes in this situation  you can be exposed to Hepatitis C.   Sex isn't a high risk of transmitting Hepatitis C.   It is in fact a low risk.   But when you include bleeding cuts this changes the odds to a much higher chance of contracting hep C.   Hep C is contracted blood to blood.   So if bleeding by both parties is happening .....you could get hep C.
If you have rough sex it's also a possibility due to injury.  If your concerned....go get tested.

Best to you
