Whooping (sp?) cough

This is not a question but just to let you know. My husband took our son for his yearly (15) and one of the shots was for whooping (sp?)cough. He told my husband that me and him should get the shot. I had told the peditrician about my husband. So I don't know if he said that because of the hep or not. I kind of think not because I am not pos. He said the cough was on the rise last year and expects it be worse this year and anyone from 11 to 65 should get the shot. It is of course a concern to me because of hubby's immune system is so wacked right now. I just wanted to let you know. Maybe you have heard it already but we haven't. I had heard whooping cough was coming back but I had not heard they were pushing people to get vacinated for it.

thank you for posting. I know it is stupid but at least I feel like someone read this. I really don't know how serious this is. Like I wrote, the doctor stress that my husband and I get this shot. ? Supposedly this can be deadly?

I read it too! This is a problem in my area too. My sister had it way back in the day before the vaccine and I remember as a child all the hospital trips she had and the "tent" they put her in. What a shame it is back. Wanted to let you know I appreciate you posting this.

Not only whooping cough, but there are many diseases that are "entering" the country, many of which we got rid of long ago and our youth haven't had vaccination for some of these diseases, such as mumps.

Ellis Island worked, but today it would be considered discrimination. Country has gone down the tubes, ashame.

Yes, I have heard from my kids doctor it is on the rise.  My youngest had it at the begining of my treatment.  Very easy to pass along.  I posted below for you; just incase you miss it.

Great hearing from you.

Thx for sharing info about whooping cough.  It can be pretty bad, especially to those of us with low white blood counts, etc.  Isn't whooping cough the same thing as pertussis?  I had whooping cough (pertussis) as an infant in & was hospitalized in an oxygen tent for over a month. As an adult, I developed bronchial asthma, probably because my lungs were so weakened.   Several years later, I think they came up with mandatory immunizations for it in a combination vaccine, DPT--, Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus... I know my children had to be immunized for it before they could start school.  Now I think the immunization is called DTaP (Diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis ).
