Work permit/bermuda/HCV

I've recently been offered a job in Bermuda.  The work permit application requires a medical sign-off commenting on communicable diseases.  I am HCV+, although the virus is dormant.  Has anyone been in a similar situation who can advise on the liklihood of being granted a work permit?  I'm concerned that I may not be granted a permit because of this, even though I am married and would like to think I'm considered "low risk" - i.e. I won't be sleeping around!

two problems...

First, for Bermuda there is no questionnaire so it is a statement from the doctor, and the doc insists on disclosing it, which i guess is fair enough.

Second, surely for insurance purposes i will need to disclose this?

I've spent a lot of time working abroad, mainly Western Europe. I've never had any issues, but it was before a diagnosis of hcv so I was completely unaware anyway.  I think that Bermuda is a different animal when it comes to foreigners working there.  Best thing you can do is look at the official Bermuda web sites and follow-up with your employer. If it was me, I would not volunteer any information about hcv but you may come to a point in a medical questionaire where you may need to make a decision.  Good luck.

Ok, maybe I've gotten mixed up with my terminology.  What I mean is that I'm fit and well and in good health, and hcv is simply something that exists in my body, but is having no effect on my day-to-day life.

So, does anyone have any pointers for applying to work abroad?  I'd hate to be discrimated or stereotyped because of a hospital blunder many years ago.

You are correct that transmitting via sex is low risk.  On the other hand, 'virus is dormant' is curious.  As long as you have hcv, it's not dormant.  You may feel well, you may be symptom-free but unless your body has eliminated all the virus or you've had successful anti-viral treatment the term 'dormant' is not applicable to hcv.
