Do I need a different primary care provider

I am a 49 yr old male who was dignosed with hep c about 17 years ago. I have to say I haven't been the best patient in defense of my primary care md. Ihave developed several problems since then including high blood pressure, heart attack, gallstones, problems with protien in urine and most recently diabetes insulin dependent. I have tried inteferon and ribavarin 3 xs non responder. Lately my body seems to be giving out always tired depression and serious pains in my legs and knees. When I approach my primary I had to suggest a referall to a gastro md. I have to rquest him to check my liver enzymes when trying new drugs for whatever other problems arise. He seems very polite and all but I get the feeling he either doesn't take my hep or me seriously or he just has to large a practice. any suggestions.

You need a doctor who specializes in liver disease, either a gastroenterologist or (better yet) a hepatologist.
