It's suppose to be good for the liver.
Thought high acid wasn't good for the liver because it converts iron from one form to another that is much worse for the liver. As in oil and vinegar. nobear, don't base any decision on me, just asking as you are.
Lemon juice is good in a glass of water or V-8 juice. Staying hydrated is important to flushing out toxins and the lemon juice is a natural liver detoxifyer. Lemon juice also provides vitamin C an important precursor to Glutathione. Lemon juice mixed w/ water, before eating and a teaspoon of olive oil (virgin cold pressed) has been shown to stimulate the production of bile.
I find it masks the sometimes off-puttting odor, and it keeps it from browning when left mout of he fridge.
Lemon juice is good a half hour before you eat anything. Have it in the morning, slice of lemon in hot water, 20 minutes before breakfast. Helps to get the metabolism going and digest food.
If you have a lot of reflux or acid problems lemons can make it worse as does any citrus fruit.
Now turn it around and think of it the other way. Could it become pro-oxidant like grapefruit juice?
Co
In vivo data and several studies suggested there is no correlation between ascorbic acid (vitamin- c) and pro-oxidant effects.

You're right, But the citric acid can induce cough. I would say avoid lemon to anybody with Riba cough or reflux (which can cause bronchospasm).
Co
Thats right CoWriter, lemon is terrible with reflux. Good tip about the riba cough.
