I'd hang in there for the Feb. 15 test then. That will be a better indication of how things are going and the 2 week one might as well be considered an EOT test.
do not know the sensitivity of the test, i am on a clinical trial and they will only tell me UND or not. have been und since week 4, did not get to take a pcr test at the end of treatment. I know that 4 week pcr test is indicative of svr, but was just curious if a 2 week one would show anything - when looking on the web, I have seen information that most relapses occur within the first 2 - 3 weeks. I will take another pcr test on Febr 15 or so.
What was the sensitivity of the test? also at 2 weeks post you still have a good amount of meds still in your system but if the sensitivity of the test was say down to <5 copies even better down to <2 and if any virions have excaped these test it will pick them up and at this point not much can be done because when you have the 4 week pcr test these little bugger will have ramped up the turn over rather quickly.
jep
Sorry I should mention that two weeks maybe a little early if the virus has been knocked back to levels that were mentioned in the previous post. But I'm sure your doc will test again at regular intervals over the next six months to a year then at certain intervals going forward
although it is a good sign to be UND at 2 weeks post the 12 week is more an indicator if you are SVR. !2 week test is very close to what the 6 month will show.
good luck
A pcr test can detect virus levels as low as 50 copes per x amount of blood. So if there is some virus there it should find it. A pcr of periferal blood cells can also find hidden or occult infection. But the gold standard is a liver biopsy
