You may consider trying current tx and see if you get a RVR at 4 or even 6 wks.  You can decide.  If you don't clear fast, you have the option of waiting for the new stuff, no need to tough out 12 or 48 wks.  I stopped at 12 wks after I didn't clear.  These drugs can damage your organs, your health.  Just the fact that the new stuff is 24 weeks, is huge.  I survived 13 weeks of tx, now at 5 weeks post and not yet recovered.  Personally as geno 1, best to wait less then 1 yr for the new stuff, wish I had.

Please a least try treatment.I  had Hep C genotype 1 for at least 30 years and was told I had a high viral load and the odds for genotype one success were low.Guess what-I went through peg interferon treatment for the full 48 weeks,I cleared the virus at week 4 and remained clear the rest of treatment.I just received my six month post treatment report and Hep C is not detectable.I hope I remain clear. In the beginning of treatment I swore it wouldn't work and didn't have much hope but look what happened. Please, please try treatment.I was really a sceptic-you just never know. This is the first time I have talked on any forum about my condition, but wanted to encourage you to try.

Oh yeah, and if you are in the untreatable %, new drugs are on the horizon!
And just from being in this forum, I see lots of people living normal lives with HepC, so its not DOOM if you cant be treated!

50-80% Total eradication... It all depends on your Genotype!

Im really new at this myself... Im a Geno 1a, so my odds are 50% of getting rid of it..

I am going into my second week today of treatment, the first one was very tolerable.

The liver biopsy wasnt as bad as it sounds either, AT ALL!

Don't be frightened, the way I see it you have no odds at all if you dont try to treat!
