I saw my eye doctor within the first four weeks due to eye pain. He happen to know about tx and wants to monitor me through tx duration. Pain went away shortly after that but I have blurry vision, reading is hard. Darn, I have a stack of books I want to get through
go to opthamologist.

Thank you for the info,Bill!!
My eye doctor is most concerned with the eye problems the Ribavirin can cause (detached retina, vision loss). However, you are correct, interferon can also cause eye problems.

my Doc said eye issues are caused by Interferon, not Riba - I had major eye probs last time I treated that left me with large floaters forever - This time around I get eye pain and some pressure but it is not a problem, yet - Sunnny
Ribavirin can cause some serious eye problems, including retinal detachment. If I was having eye pain, I would call my doctor. You probably had a baseline eye exam by a opthamologist or optometrist prior to starting treatment. Perhaps you could call the eye doctor who saw you, let him/her know you are taking ribavirin, tell him/her your symptoms, and he/she should see you right away.
Best of luck.
I have too. Some vision probs also - fuzzy. Idk. Hoping it will get better after tx. I attribute it partially to allegergies. Hoping anyway. Karen :)
Decrease or loss of vision, retinopathy including macular edema, retinal artery or vein thrombosis, retinal hemorrhages and cotton wool spots, optic neuritis, and papilledema may be induced or aggravated by treatment with peg-intron alpha 2b or other alpha interferons. All patients should receive an eye examination at baseline. Patients with preexisting disorders (e.g. diabetic or hypertensive retinopathy) should receive periodic ophthalmologic exams during interferon alpha treatment. Any patient who develops ocular symptoms should receive a prompt and complete eye examination. Pegintron alpha 2b should be discontinued in patients who develop new or worsening ophthalmologic disorders.
