question

I just had my blood work done TWO years after the end of my (successful)  treatment, and I am still negative.
While this is fantastic news for me, and encouraging (I hope) for all who are currently under treatment, I have a question to ask:
Anybody knows of cases of relapse after such long or longer periods of time?
In other words can I put this matter behind me for good and forever?

Thank you

1 yr post tx UND means SVR whether cirrhotic or not.  Of course my thoughts are 6 month UND is SVR but after 1 year there is no chance of the virus returning unless reinfected.

Would you please sight your first hand reference to the contrary?

not true - once svr is achieved theres a 98 - 99 % chance of remaining svr  the virus can reoccur especially for genotype 1 with cirrhosis and other immune system complications "

I have never ever ever seen this happen in all the years I've been on here and would wonder if instead the person was reinfected rather than relapsed in the first place.'

Ive been cured over three years and have no intention of 'relapsing' I can guarantee you that.

I had early cirrhosis; my specialist said the liver would heal more over time (he did'nt say totally rejuvenate).   On the upside, within a year of my successful tx the enlarged spleen and portal vein extension had disappeared;  it was the first time in a number of years that there was nothing abnormal;  there definitely is some healing.

i think chances are bigger getting killed in a car accident , yet we still don`t think
twice about that getting on the road.
Forget about it.
Just do your  bloowork for general health as recommended by your doctor and I
would add the occasional AFP tumor marker to that just in case.

I did 3 FibroSure bloodmarkers. In my opinion they are not worth the paper they
are printed on.It varied by a whole stage in just one week......

another question:
3 years ago, in the beginning, my biopsy showed signs of cirrhosis
At the same time I did a fibrospect test, which was in line with the biopsy, the result being F2_F4
Now, 3 years later and 2 after the end of treatment, the same fibrospect shows improvement
F0-F1 (I certainly have NO desire to do the biopsy again...)
Does this mean that the liver tissue kind of healed itself due to the treatment and the absence of the virus?
Thank you

I am 2.5 years post and still negative.  That was great news for you!!  I have read on here that once you meet the 6 month (some say) or 1 year mark that you are home free unless you get reinfected.  Good Luck
